The service
How does this work?
You send one request describing the door problem. It goes to an independent garage door company covering your town. They call or text you to talk through it and quote the job.
Who calls me back?
One local company, not a list of five fighting over the number. The name shows up when they call.
Does it cost anything to ask?
No. The request and the callback are free. Whatever the company charges for the job is between you and them.
Is this a garage door company?
No. It is a way to reach a local pro without sorting through directories and paid ads. The work, the price, and the warranty belong to whoever you hire.
The job
How do I verify a contractor in Washington?
Washington registers contractors through the Department of Labor and Industries. Ask for the registration number and run it through the L&I Verify tool. Active registration, a bond, and workers' comp should all show on the result.
The door is frozen shut. What now?
Pull the opener release and do not force it. A door iced to the driveway in a cold snap usually frees itself by midday; pulling hard on a frozen seal tears it. If the door has to move now, warm water along the bottom seal is the safe version.
The door made a bang and now it is heavy. What broke?
Usually a torsion spring. The spring carries the door's weight; when it snaps, the opener cannot lift the door and neither should you by hand. That is a repair call, not a DIY job, springs hold enough tension to hurt people.
Should I repair the door or replace it?
Depends on what failed and how old the door is. A spring or cable on a sound door is a repair. A door with rusted-through sections, a bowed frame, or hardware that predates safety sensors is usually a replacement conversation. The callback is where that call gets made.
The county
My town is not listed. Can you still help?
If the property sits inside Snohomish County, send the request anyway with the nearest listed town. Rural addresses between towns still get covered.
